How much does a Tai Chi Gung class cost in Billerica?
Each class is $15 for the hour, and your first class is free. If you plan to come regularly, a monthly subscription is $110 for 2 classes a week over 4 weeks, the unlimited plan is $175 a month for 3 classes a week plus the alternate Thursday sessions, and a prepaid punch card stays at $15 per class with every 6th class free. Private one-to-one sessions are $35 for the hour, and a group or corporate session is $175 for the hour. Esmeralda takes Venmo or cash.
Do I need any experience to join a class?
No experience is needed. Every class is taught so a first-timer can follow along, and the movements are slow, gentle, and repeated each week, so you learn them by doing them. Tai Chi Gung has three levels of activity — Chair Yoga, Yin, and Yang — and you work at whichever level fits your body right now.
Is Tai Chi Gung suitable for seniors or people with limited mobility?
Yes. The chair exercise classes exist for exactly this. You do the movements from a seated position, building leg strength, balance, and mobility, and you progress to the standing exercises when you feel ready. Tai Chi Gung is for all ages and all fitness levels, and no one is pushed past what their body can do.
What should I wear and bring to class?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing you can move and breathe in, with flat, flexible shoes — or practice in bare feet. The movements are slow and gentle, so you won't need a mat or any special gear. Bring water if you like.
Where exactly is Dale Hall?
Dale Hall is on the 2nd floor of First Congregational Church, 18 Andover Road, Billerica, MA 01821. Use the side door of the building, where there is an elevator up to the second floor, so you do not have to take the stairs. If you have trouble finding the room on your first visit, call Esmeralda at 978-580-9631.
What happens if I miss a week on my punch card?
You don't lose anything. The punch card is prepaid at $15 per class and only gets punched when you attend, so a missed week simply means the card lasts longer. Every 6th class on the card is free.
Do you offer private or corporate Tai Chi Gung sessions?
Yes. Esmeralda takes private students one-to-one for $35 an hour, at any level of mobility, covering the Yin and Yang exercises and the chair movements. She also leads group and corporate sessions for $175 an hour — an hour of relaxation, calmness, centering, and focus for your employees or guests. Email taichigungboston@yahoo.com to arrange either.
